RoadRot collects pothole locations (GPS coordinates), optional display names, optional city names, severity ratings, photos, and comments submitted by users. No account or signup is required.
Users may optionally provide an email address for pothole fix notifications. Email addresses are used solely for this purpose and are never shared with third parties.
IP addresses are used only for rate limiting to prevent abuse. They are not stored permanently or associated with pothole reports.
Photos uploaded with pothole reports are reviewed before being published. Photos are stored on Cloudflare R2 and are publicly visible once approved.
RoadRot uses browser local storage to remember your display name, city, and reporting activity. No tracking cookies are used. Google Analytics is used for aggregate site traffic analysis.
We do not sell, share, or distribute any user data to third parties. Pothole reports are publicly visible on the map by design — this is the core function of the service.
RoadRot uses Facebook's API to share pothole reports. When posts are shared to Facebook, Facebook's own privacy policy applies to interactions on their platform. We do not collect or store any Facebook user data.
Pothole reports remain on the platform until marked as fixed or removed by the reporter. Users can remove their own reports using the delete function in the pothole detail view.
